Emotional experience

When I went to Tofino 2 weeks ago, I was already excited some days before the trip started. On saturday morning we met at "canada place". I felt very tired and a little bit sorry for myself that I had to wake up so early. But during the busride it got better and better. Finally, we took the boat to do whale watching. It was amazing because we saw a lot of whales. I felt delighted and enjoyed that moment very much. It was the first time that I saw wild whales.
On sunday we visited Tofino and then we decided to take a 20 minute tour by flow plane. Before this activity I was a little bit apprehensive because sometimes I get sick when there are a lot of turbulence in the plane. Fortunately, there was no problem about it. It was beautiful to see everthing. I was impressed by the wonderful view we had! We saw a lot of small islands, bays, forests...
After that weekend I was overjoyed; even though it was hard to go to school the next day. I was exhausted and pleased at the same time.

Similarities between my home city and Vancouver

I live near Zurich which is the biggest and most international city in Switzerland. A lot of people think that Zurich is the capital of Switzerland, but it isn't! It is Bern. Zurich has some similarities to Vancouver, especially the nature around. We also have a nice view to the mountains and a lot of parks in the city. The stores on Robson street are similar to the stores on "Bahnhofstrasse", which is the most popular shopping street in Zurich. Zurich has a lot of lures and it is enticing for a lot of differnt people. I think that the quality of life is very high in both cities. In Zurich and in Vancouver, the security is important. There is always a lot of police everywhere. I like both cities very much. In Zurich there's no sea unfortunately, but we have a beautiful lake where I often go swimming in the summer.
There are also some differences. Vancouver is much bigger than Zurich and the globalization is more developped as in my town. Vancouver is international, you have a mix of so many different cultures in this city. This is the proof that it is possible to live all together. Zurich doesn't have so many immigrants.
Both cities have some stunning places which are attractive for tourists.

Challenges

When I arrived in Vancouver, I had to handle a challenge: Finding my homestay family.
As they didn't pick me up from the airport, I took a taxi. I felt very exhausted after the long flight and was happy, sitting in the cab. The taxi driver was a friendly man from India. I had some trouble to understand him, but it was okay; I just said "yes" when he asked something... After a while we arrived on my street, 49th Fraser. Unfortunatelly, the taxi driver didn't find the house. I showed him my documents with the adress, but he had no idea where it was. We were looking for the house while driving very slowly, but we had no chance. Finally, I decided to call my homestay family. My hostmother picked up the phone and explained the right way. We were quite near to it. However, the taxi driver wasn't able to find it.
I'm not sure if I learned something from this situation. You should stay calm and be patient in life, that's important if you want to handle something. It doesn't matter what kind of situation you get in...

Conditional

I need some advise about sports. If somebody could help me, I'll be very glad.
I played tennis for six years but I had to stop one year ago because of my back. If I hadn't stopped playing tennis, I would be in hospital now. What do you think would be a meaningful sport for restarting? I thought about yoga. Maybe if I practise this regularry, it will force my back. Or perhaps it would be better, to go swimming? Please help, thanks...:)

I've been here for 10 days now, so I've already experienced a lot.
What impressed me the most was hastings street.
After having visited Gastown, Martin, Sebastian, Uli and I, had a walk. We enjoyed the weather, and talked, and in the same time, the region became stranger. It was because of the people. I was a little bit scared since they all took drugs. For example, there was a man, laying on the ground without showing any proof of life. I was surprised as nobody took notice of him. While watching all these drug addicted people, I asked myself how it is possible to sink so low. I also thought about the possibilities, how we could help them, but it's too complicated to find an answer.
